A Vision of Middlesex was published to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Hornsey Historical Society. The book presents a selection of over one hundred and twenty 19th and early 20th Century photographs from the North Middlesex Photographic Society’s survey and record of Middlesex.

The photographs record long-vanished scenes of Crouch End, Edmonton, Enfield, Hampstead, Highgate, Hornsey, Palmers Green, Stroud Green, Tottenham, and Wood Green. Details of the photographers and locations are given.

About the authors

Janet Owen has lived in Hornsey all her working life, spent in London schools as a teacher and schools’ inspector and adviser. She is currently HHS Publications Manager and a member of the General Committee. Janet has written several HHS Bulletin articles and two books.

John Hinshelwood lives in Harringay and was HHS Curator & Archivist, 1998-2005. John is a frequent contributor to the HHS Bulletin and spends his time researching and writing on aspects of local history. He is the author of several books. For a number of years he was Secretary of the London and Middlesex Archaeological Society (LAMAS) local history committee.
