Congratulations to Ian Christie for winning a prestigious Theatre Library Association (TLA) Book Award earlier this month. Ian won the 2019 Richard Wall Memorial Award for an exemplary work in the field of recorded performance for his book Robert Paul and the Origins of British Cinema, published by University of Chicago Press.
The Theatre Library Association in New York honours English language works of scholarship on live and recorded performance. The annual presentation was online earlier this month.
Ian’s talk to the HHS last year was entitled “The World’s First Film Studios? Putting R W Paul back on the Map” and with the success of the book in the US he’s definitely achieving that aim. The book is not currently available in the UK so we hope for news of its publication soon.
